BananA FibeR As PapeR

.INTRODUCTION.

A. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Banana is the common name for a fruit and also the herbaceous plants of the genus Musa which produce the commonly eaten fruit. They are native to the tropical region of Southeast Asia and Australia. Today, they are cultivated throughout the tropics.

Each individual fruit (known as a banana or 'finger') has a protective outer layer (a peel or skin) with a fleshy edible inner portion. Typically, the fruit has numerous strings (called 'phloem bundles') which run between the skin and the edible portion of the banana, and which are commonly removed individually after the skin is removed is a class of materials that are continuous filaments or are in discrete elongated pieces, similar to lengths of thread. Bananas are a valuable source of vitamin B6, vitamin C, and potassium.

B. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Bananas are mainly abundant in the Phillipines. Many had come to many discoveries to produce a product from banana. This study focuses in producing paper from a banana fiber.

C. HYPOTHESIS

If the researcher can produce better quality paper than the commercial paper therefore the banana fibre can be made to paper.

D. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Banana fibre is also used in the production of banana paper. Banana paper is used in two different senses: to refer to a paper made from the bark of the banana plant, mainly used for artistic purposes, or paper made from banana fiber, obtained from an industrialized process, from the stem and the non utilizable fruits. This paper can be either hand-made or made by industrialized machine.

E. SCOPE AND LIMITATION

The researcher limit his study to the comparison between the commercial paper and banana fibre due to financial asisitance and time for the study.

F. DEFINITION OF TERM

FIBRE- is a class of materials that are continuous filaments or are in discrete elongated pieces, similar to lengths of thread.

PAPER-is thin material mainly used for writing upon, printing upon or packaging.
